Elliot Page (formerly known as Ellen Page) is an Academy Award nominated Canadian actor, well known for their roles in Juno, Inception, and The Umbrella Academy. Page came out as transgender in December 2020, making them one of the few out transgender actors in Hollywood.

Page first rose to fame when they starred in the 2007 comedy-drama film Juno, for which they were nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. Since then, they’ve gone on to star in a variety of films and television shows, including the 2010 blockbuster Inception, and more recently, the Netflix series The Umbrella Academy.

In December 2020, Page came out as transgender, announcing their name change to Elliot and disclosing their pronouns. In a statement posted to their social media, Page said that they had experienced “overwhelming gratitude for the incredible out pouring of support” and had “been so moved by all the blessings sent me from across the globe.”

Elliot Page has since become a vocal advocate for the transgender and LGBTQ+ community, speaking out against laws that limit the rights of trans people, and passionately speaking out against discrimination and misinformation about the transgender community. Page has been celebrated as a role model for many trans and gender non-conforming kids and teens, giving them representation and a greater sense of visibility.

In 2021, Page was named a Time Magazine “100 Most Influential People”, making them the first out trans person to ever be recognized on the list. Elliot Page continues to be an inspiration to many, inspiring hope and resilience in those who feel the need to reject traditional gender roles.
